Much has been written about fake job postings - evergreen postings that offer no real intent to hire. For some bad actors, this is a tactic used to build candidate databases most often deployed by recruiting agencies. However - when managed by companies with their own Talent Acquisition functions - these methods are a way to build Talent Communities of those who are interested in your brand, and working at your organization.
Hiring success is largely due to timing and often that timing doesn't align with great talent. They may be looking for a new role, but not immediately. You may have an opportunity to bring someone on with specific skills, but not yet. Using well defined and clearly articulate talent community postings helps you organically grow a following for you to engage, connect and establish some kind of relationship - so that when that time does come - you're able to move quickly.
